New Trustees
The High Barnet Chamber Music Festival (HBCMF) is looking for two new trustees to join the team and help extend the scope of its innovative and acclaimed concert series.
What is HBCMF?
Founded in 2021 with support from Arts Council England to kickstart the area’s post-pandemic artistic revival, HBCMF offers a platform to some of the UK’s most talented young professionals as well as running an education programme for the area’s school students.
A sell-out series of concerts last year revealed the pent-up demand for high quality music making in North London. This year’s Festival, which runs from 1st to 10th July, includes appearances by the award-winning Echéa Quartet and the New London Orchestra. The 2022 season has already received sponsorship from The Worshipful Company of Grocers and Florian Leonhard Fine Violins.
With support from the Cavatina Trust the Festival provides free tickets for under-25s, and as well as the concert series promotes a Composition Competition and a Student Ambassador Scheme.
Joshua Ballance, the Festival’s Artistic Director, says the positions offer “a fantastic opportunity to really make a difference to a young and fast-growing organisation which is bringing exciting developments to High Barnet, for audiences, musicians, students and the town itself”.
What does the role involve?
You will be one of five trustees overseeing the operations of the Festival. Alongside more specialist advice you may be able to offer, you will be involved in the general strategic planning of the Festival. As a young and fast-growing organisation, there is plenty of scope to have a major positive impact on the success of the Festival.
The role typically takes a couple of hours per month, although this is spread unevenly across the year, with more time required around the Festival period (June/July). This is a voluntary position.

Who are we looking for?
Ideally, you will have a strong interest in music, and we are particularly looking for prospective trustees with either legal or accountancy experience. You need to be good at working in a team and have an enthusiastic and self-motivated attitude.
You do not need to have been a trustee previously, and living in High Barnet is not necessary, though a willingness to attend meetings and concerts in the area is required.
How do I apply?
Please submit a C.V. and Covering Letter to admin@hbcmf.co.uk.
